We spent the summer up in CT and the Long Island Sound area. It was the 1^st time we have brought Carina that far north since the summer of 2010. Carina was hauled during the hot month of July at Captain's Cove in Bridgeport. It was nearly 2 years since our last haul-out and the bottom was in desperate need of cleaning.

We moved off the boat to stay at Mark's mother's house for a month and juggled a long list of boat chores while visiting family & friends, our annual med. appointments, etc.

 

Carina was re-launched and we spent all August cruising some of our old favorite spots in Long Island, Block Island Narragansett Bay and Martha's Vineyard. The weather was less humid and cooler than normal making for pleasant anchorages.

 



Kathy's son Jason with Grandson Quinten. This was "Q's" 1st trip aboard a boat. We did a weekend sail across LI Sound from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson (along with mom and baby brother) to show him where and how "Pirate Grandma" lives.

Mark spent about 2 weeks at many anchorages sewing the new dinghy chaps seen here. 

 After Labor day, we headed south taking our time exploring many new anchorages in the Chesapeake and North Carolina areas.

We were the only boat that locked through the Deep Creek Locks at the north end of the Dismal Swamp Canal. The lock keeper Robert is giving Kathy some pointers on conch horn blowing.

We have been anchored at Cumberland Is. GA sitting out a Nor'Easter for the past 2 days and will continue south into FL and then cross to the Bahamas for our 4th season.
